FAQ Parents
"How did you get my son or daughter's name in order to send them a letter?"
Having been involved with Toronto High School Sports for some time now, we have established many relationships with parents, athletes, high school coaches, and club coaches. We also monitor game results throughout the GTA. Many times a family will ask us to talk to another family that they feel would benefit from our involvement during the process of their son or daughter being recruited. An athlete normally gets a letter from us because they have shown to be a standout athlete through their performance or we have heard good reports on their character and abilities.
"What does the letter mean?"
The letter was sent to your son/daughter because there is an overwhelming number of families every year that would like their kids to compete in college yet have no real direction as to how to get started in the process. Since no real source of information exists about the ins and outs of how the system works, and since the process will be a first time experience for the majority of families, College Prospects of America wants to help families understand exactly what they need to do to increase their chances of playing on scholarship.
"What exactly do you do?"
We work with two groups of athletes. Those that are already hearing from college coaches and those that are not yet hearing from them but should be. All of the things we do are listed in the "What We Do" section of this website.
"What happens if nothing happens, is there a guarantee?"
We do not risk working with an athlete if we do not feel we can significantly help them improve their odds of attaining a place to play. Only those student athletes with the necessary academic and/or athletic credentials are admitted into the program. We are very selective in the students we take and therefore guarantee that every coach at every school where you are able to compete at based on your athletic and academic ability will know who you are and where to get a hold of you. We guarantee that you will be professionally guided throughout the entire recruiting process and can also guarantee that you will hear from schools that will indicate they are interested in your athletic ability. But due to NCAA regulations, we cannot offer a guarantee of a scholarship. A guarantee would indicate that we were representing the athlete as an agent and would therefore make them ineligible to participate in college.
"So you turn away athletes?"
Yes, if we feel that we cannot help the athlete or that they would not receive a significant amount of interest as we have seen with past athletes in their sport, we reserve the right to deny participation in the program.
"What is your success rate?"
Because we are selective in the athletes that we work with, we have been able to see a very high percentage of athletes that ultimately find opportunities. If the student athlete is committed to doing what he or she needs to do, the overwhelming majority of those athletes received significant opportunities to play.
